    Steroid injections

    Book nowEnquire / Book

Steroid injections, sometimes called cortisone injections, are a common treatment for joint, tendon, and soft tissue pain. They contain a synthetic version of a hormone that the body naturally produces to reduce inflammation. At Lanthorn, procedures are carried out under ultrasound guidance so it reaches the precise area causing pain. Steroid injections are usually considered when rest, physiotherapy, or simple treatments have not provided enough relief. Many people find they help restore comfort and allow normal daily activities to continue. All procedures will include a targeted diagnostic scan of the area of concern.

This treatment is designed to help conditions including:

    1. Joint arthritis

Steroid injections can reduce pain and swelling in joints affected by arthritis

    2. Tendon irritation

Injections around tendons can calm inflammation and ease pain from conditions such as tendonitis

    3. Bursitis

Swollen bursae, which are fluid filled sacs around joints, can respond well to steroid injections

    4. Nerve irritation

In some cases, injections placed near nerves can help reduce inflammation and pain
