    Booking and referrals

    Do I need a referral?

No. We accept self-referrals as well as referrals from clinicians.

    How do I book?

Online through Enquire / Book, by phone on 020 3007 7757 or by email at appointments@lanthornclinic.com.

Who will carry out my scan?

A consultant radiologist who specialises in the area being scanned. Meet our consultants.

Can I be seen the same day?

Same-day appointments are often available. Please call to check.

    Do you see children?

Our services are for adults aged 18 and over. Minors may be seen only with a parent or legal guardian present and by prior agreement.

    Your appointment

    Do I need to prepare?

Some abdominal and pelvic scans need fasting or a full bladder. See Preparing for your appointment. Muscle, joint and neck scans need no preparation.

    How long is an appointment?

An appointment for a single scan takes about 20 to 30 minutes, including your consultation. Full body assessments take longer.

    What happens during an ultrasound?

Your consultant talks through your symptoms, applies gel and moves a small probe over the area. They explain what they see during the appointment.

What if I am running late?

If you are more than 15 minutes late without contacting us, we may not be able to carry out your scan at the original time. We will try to accommodate you on the day.

    Results

When will I get my report?

Usually within 24 hours. Some imaging can take longer.

    What if something is found?

Your consultant explains the finding and the options. We can arrange further imaging, blood tests or a specialist referral.

How much does a scan cost?

Ultrasound scans range from £300 to £450, including the consultation and report. See Pricing.

    Is a deposit required?

Yes. A deposit is payable at booking. The balance is paid by card at the clinic on the day, or by invoice if agreed in advance. We do not accept cash.
